The Challenge

The activation required maintaining, optimizing, and scaling an existing multi-market hardware and software ecosystem. Hundreds of youth participants across varying outdoor locations demanded reliable, zero-latency metric recording, real-time leaderboard syncs, and stable local networks under high physical exposure and high traction.

The Strategy

I led the ongoing engineering optimization and on-site technical execution for the STEM Zone. By implementing architectural enhancements to the existing web-app codebase, refining interactive hardware-to-software WebSockets protocols, and standardizing a proactive local deployment checklist, we guaranteed real-time score logging across all tour stops.

Technical Execution

The core experiential architecture centered on the STEM Zone, where science, technology, engineering and athletics intersected. I maintained and refined the hardware-software integrations powering the Kick and Dash stations, ensuring precise speed, agility, and impact data collection from physical sensors.

Data was transmitted instantly via WebSockets to a local server engine, calculating live performance statistics and updating a centralized digital leaderboard dynamically. In parallel, I oversaw the web development pipeline to improve and patch the event’s web application, while maintaining an integrated photo-opportunity module for instant digital asset distribution to participants.

Key Takeaway

Iterating on legacy experiential platforms requires deep defensive engineering. Ensuring code modularity and isolating hardware communication channels made it easy to swap modules and adapt to changing conditions in different locations and situations that might take place in high-traffic environments.

The Legacy

The updated digital infrastructure sustained consecutive multi-city tours without metric data loss or hardware desynchronization, delivering a scalable model for Chevron's corporate STEM initiatives.
